The Solidarity Economy Initiative is pleased to announce the launch of our Solidarity Philanthropy Learning Circle. Our hope is that this learning circle will radically expand our notions of giving through Solidarity Philanthropy practices, while deepening connections between justice funders and movement groups who are stepping into field leadership around solidarity economy efforts.

We will begin a collective journey to answer essential questions: how can we begin to support creative and proactive strategies for building a more just and sustainable world? How can we practice different ways of being that reduce the harm caused by the current model of philanthropy, which was grounded in capitalism, patriarchy and white supremacy?

Over the course of the next year and a half, we will connect to (1) learn about concepts of a Just Economy / Solidarity Economy, (2) deepen a shared understanding of the solidarity philanthropy framework (3) build trusted relationships and accountability with one another and with movement groups, and (4) practice new models for philanthropy through our own work, and collaborative design projects. We will learn, act, and learn again to build proactive strategies and new ways of being for justice funders.
